DESCRIPTION

Olive wood and stone beaded rosary with Tau cross.

The Tau cross, often associated with the Franciscan Friars, has a strong biblical and Christian tradition.  St. Francis of Assisi embraced it  wholeheartedly for its spiritual value. It was for St Francis a sign of salvation through the Cross of Christ, through penance, and of joy and victory.  It became his symbol which can be seen  in his writings, on walls and doors where he stayed, and even used it as his signature. St Francis loved to point out to the friars that when they stretched out their arms their habit formed a Tau.
